Join Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga teacher Alison Welch for a casual, baby-free* gathering to support one another, exchange resources, eat healthy food, and find levity amidst the challenges of motherhood. Leave your baby at home unless too young or still in utero. While we won’t have a physical asana practice during this gathering, we will experience some centering, breath work, and soul baring. This is a casual gathering although we do have a starting and ending so come when you can but know we will gather together starting at 2:45 pm to exchange ideas and support one another.
THIS SESSION’S THEME: Sleep! Challenges and Strategies for Helping Your Baby (and you!) Sleep
We will make space to address any other issues that are top of mind for those attending. In addition to bringing questions, ideas, funny stories, and an open mind, bring….
- a bowl,
- a cloth napkin,
- a cup or mug, and
- a vegan snack to share (fresh fruit or veggies, hummus and pita, dried fruit and nuts, other dips/chips are just a few ideas but remember to keep it simple – Trader Joe’s has lots of these things on the shelf!).
Hot tea and water will be provided. Should you forget to bring anything but yourself, please still show up! RSVP to Alison Welch at awelchyoga@gmail.com. Call 708.860.7342 or email with questions.

Teacher Amy Dean in Padmasana (Lotus)
Padmasana or Lotus Pose is one that people even unfamiliar with yoga envision when the topic of yoga is brought up. It is an iconic representation of the practice, with the lotus flower having symbolic meaning in Buddhism and Hinduism. Many espouse that the purpose of the physical asana practice is indeed so that the body is supple and strong enough to be able to sit for extended periods of time for meditation, which is often done while in Padmasana. Read on to learn a few tips for accessing this pose, even with modifications. Read the rest of this entry »

The best way to access and balance your crown chakra is through meditation. The following tips came from a Meditation 101 article at Yoga Journal’s website. In a nutshell, try not to think too hard about what meditation “should” be – start small through breath awareness, stillness, and committing to a higher level of presence. Your practice will naturally build from there. Pick one of these things to do each day or each week. Read the full article for more details. Join us on Sundays at Yoga Trek for Free Community Meditation from 5:45 – 6:15 pm. Read the rest of this entry »
