Amy Dean believes that God would not have sent us down here without instructions! Yoga is the universal owner’s manual for the body, mind and spirit. She feels that yoga helps us explore ourselves, each other and the Whole, which is composed of Truth, Beauty and Sacredness.
To help her students feel this connection and compassion, she encourages them to set a San Kalpa or intention at the beginning of their practice and to use the breath in each moment to acknowledge what magnetic force drew them to their mat. She has students reaffirm their intention repeatedly throughout class and through the breath to transform their practice into a moving mediation and to magnify the fruits of their practice beyond the mat. She uses imagery, mudras, pranayamas and asana to help students deepen their connection to the self.
Amy is currently in the process of being certified through Moksha Yoga. She teaches the Community Class on Saturdays from 4-5. Donations for West Suburban Pads, an agency that provides a continuum of services for persons that are experiencing homelessness, are much appreciated. Writer and yogi Jack Haas, along with the teachings of Jesus, inspired Amy to choose homelessness as the force behind her Karma Yoga.
